Where Heritage Meets Design
There is something deeply special about objects that carry history.
Long before rugs became decorative accessories, they were at the heart of everyday life. In many cultures across the world, from Persia to the Atlas Mountains, the rug was the center of the home. Families gathered on it, meals were shared around it, stories unfolded on it. It was both practical and deeply personal.
Over time, as interiors became more minimal and standardized, rugs slowly moved to the background of decoration.
Homura was born from the desire to bring them back to where they belong.
Not as accessories, but as pieces of character, objects that anchor a room and give it soul.
The rug reborn.
A Curated House of One-of-a-Kind Pieces
Homura is not a traditional rug store.
We do not produce rugs in factories or sell large series of identical pieces. Instead, we travel, source, and carefully curate rugs that already exist. Pieces that were woven by hand, often years or decades ago, by artisans whose knowledge has been passed down through generations.
Every rug we select is unique.
Some are bold and expressive, almost like abstract paintings. Others are quiet and minimal, with soft natural wool and simple geometric patterns. But they all share one thing in common: they were made slowly, by human hands, with intention.
That is what gives them their presence.
Rugs With Stories
Many of the rugs curated by Homura come from Morocco, particularly from weaving communities in the Atlas Mountains.
In these regions, rug weaving is traditionally practiced by Amazigh women, who weave patterns that often reflect personal stories, cultural symbols, or simply moments of creativity. Each piece becomes a visual language, a combination of color, geometry, and instinct.
No two rugs are ever exactly alike.
What might look like a simple pattern can hold layers of meaning, sometimes representing protection, fertility, journeys, or elements of everyday life.
When you bring one of these rugs into your home, you are not just adding decoration, you are welcoming a piece of living heritage.
Why We Curate Instead of Produce
In a world of mass production, we believe rarity matters.
Every rug at Homura is selected individually for its character, texture, colors, and story. We look for pieces that feel alive, rugs that immediately create atmosphere in a room.
Because the most memorable interiors are never built around trends. They are built around objects with soul.
The Rug as the Soul of a Room
At Homura, we see rugs almost the way a gallery sees art.
They define space.
They create emotion.
They set the tone of an interior.
Sometimes all it takes is one exceptional piece to transform a room completely.
And that is exactly what we search for.
